The Caregiver Resource Center (CRC) offers educational events, information, referral services and support groups for people who provide
care to an aging or disabled adult. Through collaborative relationships, we help to educate the community about the value of caregiving.
All of our services are provided at no cost. We are located in Suite 100 of the historic AGE building.
· Personalized information
and assistance
Our knowledgeable staff can help you navigate the system in your search to find appropriate housing, transportation,
physical and mental health resources, financial and legal resources, government benefits, educational and recreational activities,
in-home and adult day care services, and other services for seniors. Please contact Eva Church or Bruce Kravitz at (512) 451-4611
for assistance or to schedule an appointment.
· Library and resource materials
The Caregiver Resource Center maintains a lending library of books, articles,
audio tapes, and videos on a wide range of caregiving and topics related to aging. We also have brochures and pamphlets on a
variety of services and organizations of interest to seniors. Please feel free to stop by the CRC office and check out these
helpful materials. Library materials are available for loan at no charge.
· Educational seminars and conferences
With the
help of partner agencies, the Caregiver Resource Center organizes free educational events on a wide variety of caregiving, medical,
legal, and financial topics. Each year in September, AGE partners with the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area to present
the "Striking A Balance" caregivers conference. This event provides a much-needed opportunity for caregivers to learn more about
local resources and acquire new skills that will enable them to better manage the challenges of caregiving. More information
about our upcoming seminars and classes can be found in our e-newsletter.
· Durable Medical Equipment
Lending Closet
The CRC operates a durable medical equipment lending closet, which provides equipment to those in need at no cost.
Items that may be available for loan include wheelchairs, walkers, shower benches and other assistive devices. Our lending closet
relies on equipment donations from the community and we maintain a waiting list for many popular items. For more information
or to donate items to the lending closet, please contact us by calling 451-4611 ext. 228, or sending an email to help@ageofaustin.org
· Caregiver Support Groups
Caregiving is often a difficult and complex task. We welcome you to join other caregivers to share and learn from each other. The caregiver support group meets the fourth Wednesday, from noon-1pm, of each month. Please contact the CRC if you plan to attend or if you have questions.
"Every caregiver that comes to us has different needs, responsibilities and support systems. Our mission is to guide each caregiver to the available resources best suited for their unique situation." — Eva Church, Director
